Experience

During six years of US Army active duty, Dr. Solberg served a combat duty deployment in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He is the former Medical Director of a Level II Trauma Center, the Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, and a medical director for two rural fire departments and the Badlands Search and Rescue group. He is a track-side, extreme sports emergency physician for the Amsoil Championship SnoCross race series, an Advanced Wilderness Life Support Instructor, and the medical editor for Overland Journal, the world’s premiere publication for environmentally responsible, worldwide, vehicle supported expedition and adventure travel. 

Accomplishments

Dr. Solberg has been declared a Fellow in both the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Academy of Wilderness Medicine. He has climbed Mt Rainier (14,409ft) and is certified as a Rescue Diver by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. In 2017, he served as an expedition doctor with Expeditions 7, a small team which drove three specially modified Arctic Trucks across the long axis of Greenland, to 82.5 degrees North, the farthest north on Earth ever reached by motor vehicle. He is an instrument rated pilot, a motorcycle aficionado, a loving father of three, and perhaps the luckiest husband and son in the entire world
